All about the Seasiders Podcast

We are an independent Blackpool FC fans podcast covering match previews, reviews, news, features and player interviews in audio and video shows.  We've been talking all things tangerine since 2010.

The show was incepted by John when he wanted to listen to a Blackpool FC podcast but there was none around so  decided to set one up.

We started out by passing a single mic around to each other in the box room of John's house and had a bit of audio equipment cobbled together that none of us had any clue how to use properly!  The show has grown  over the years, although we had a self-imposed hiatus during the "Not a penny more" boycott campaign against the hated owners at the time.

The club is now, thankfully, in new hands and under the brilliant custodianship of our new owner, Simon Sadler, we are looking forward to happier times supporting the 'Pool and we are documenting this journey in the form of our podcasts and videos on our YouTube channel.

About the Hosts

John Aspinall

Producer, Host

Producer & presenter on the Seasiders Podcast.

"Been an avid 'Pool fan since my Dad first took me on the Kop and was mesmerised by the Man City fans chucking bits of the decaying stadium over the fence towards us in an FA Cup tie in 1984!"

Nick Smith

Presenter and been on the pod since the very early days of passing a single mic around in John's box room! Often referred to as the "voice of reason" on the show. And in his own, dulcet tones:

" Still vividly remember my first game (around 1980) in the East Paddock, when I nearly choked on a Spangle (forgot to take the cellophane off) Developed a habit of missing goals, usually due to being in the bar. Love a Jolly Boys Outing."

Tim Fielding

Presenter, Wordsmith

Our elder statesman and resident wordsmith. Tim originally joined the team to provide legal analysis during 'The Litigation Years' and we haven't be able to get rid of him since! Known perhaps best for the repeated use of the phase "those of a certain vintage", and has a pathological dislike of the trend towards multiple substitutions. And in the words of the great man:

"I started following the Pool in 1978 after being captivated by a classic 0-0 draw v Plymouth Argyle. Occasionally I also make a valid point about the game."

Tom Mayne

The newest member of our team and co-presents the Friday Night Preview show with Sam.

Sam Fielding

Host, Commentator

Son of Tim and runs the Friday Night Preview show along with Tom.

Matt Smith

Presenter, Writer

Matt is another "old skool" presenter and joined the pod in it's early days not long after Nick. And in his own words:

"Hooked after watching ‘Pool lose a classic 3-2 home defeat to Tranmere on Boxing Day 1983. Obviously a lucky charm as promotion followed the next season! Loves an away day with the lads and can’t wait for these to start again!"

Matt 'Mitch' Johnson

Panelist & writer

Matt writes the blog "Mitch Cook's Left Foot" and has also joined the podcast team as a panelist on the pod.
